A Day of Reconciliation

Today is our Grand Opening for La Paz House.  It is also MLK Day, a day set aside to honor Martin Luther King Jr. for his contribution and commitment to racial and spiritual reconciliation.  Today is also Inauguration Day where President Obama will be sworn in again as our president.
Since "La Paz"  means "peace",  we planned to open today, to honor MLK's theme of peace.

As I sit here watching the Inaugural Event on television,  I am overwhelmed by the this fact:  There is no greater time to be here.  There is no greater time to work and strive for peace, justice, and racial reconciliation.  I am watching the presidential family get out of their limousine.  They look great.  They are embraced by friends and politicians of all races supporting them.  What a great picture!

Today as we open La Paz House,  our desire and prayer is that La Paz House will be a place of peace, justice, racial and spiritual reconciliation to all of the diverse residents of our corner of the world in Kansas City, Kansas.

"All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
